On Monday very early in the morning in Northern part of Greece near Thessaloniki (Halkidiki) , the working site of Hellas Gold, a greek-canadian gold mining company was vandalized by a group of 40 full faced persons. The 40 intruders thrown stones and set fire in the offices of the company with molotov cocktails as well as treated the security guards with weapons . Earlier today, Police had arrested a man for “moral instigation” of the attack due to his contributions to an anti-mining blog. The prosecutor later ordered him released without officially charging him, while also ordering the investigation to continue. The majority of the local society seems to be against the gold mining company in the area because of fear of environmental destruction. Police continues the investigation in order to arrest the environmental activists.
