Tsochatzopoulos trial underway

Criminal trial against former Pasok defence minister and 18 others relates to kickbacks allegedly received in order to approve the purchase of Russian TOR-M1 short-range missiles and German submarines for the navy

The trial of former minister Akis Tsochatzopoulos and 18 others – including his wife, daughter, former wife, a cousin and former business associates – for money laundering charges stemming from alleged corruption in arms contracts got underway on Monday.

Tsochatzopoulos, his wife, daughter and another five suspects in the case have spent the past year in jail awaiting the criminal trial.
