A fire broke out in the holiday house of former Prime Minister Kostas Simitis in the area of Agii Theodori resort on the border between the regions of Attica and Corinthia shortly after 2:30 a.m., when flames enveloped the kitchen and the living room of the building, which was empty at that time. The thick smoke activated the alarm system. Fire men force investigators suspect that a fire at the holiday home of former prime minister Costas Simitis was caused by arson. Simitis was Pasok prime minister from 1996 to 2004 and while he was in power, the country became a member of the euro zone.
